Description
This is an original intact July 1848 issue of "The American Review: A Whig Journal," the journal of the defunct Whig political party, printed in 6.25" X 9.5" format. Many literary entries can be found here, along with snippets of world news and the latest events in the Whig party, the most notable of which in this issue is the nomination of General Zachary Taylor as presidential candidate for their party in the 1848 election. Another interesting feature in this issue is a small yellow piece of paper in front of the title page, asking for payment from subscribers.Overall, the magazine is intact and in fair condition, especially for its age, but it does have some issues and must be handled with care to avoid separation of the binding. In my first three photos, you'll see that the covers have a lot wear, a signature, stains & discoloration, wrinkles, small tears, and some binding damage along the spine. Here, the binding is beginning to come apart (though still intact), and rough handling may lead to complete separation. Inside, the pages remain relatively crisp but are heavily stained throughout the issue, and light wrinkles and creases are also common.
