Thomas F. Dolan (1896-1980) was born in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. He was a Georgetown University (1921) and a Georgetown University Law School (1924) graduate, a successful Chicago attorney and a prominent member of the Democratic Party in both Chicago and Arizona. He ran for elected office several times in Chicago. He was a friend to many powerful Democratic politicians from the 1920s right up until his death in 1980. Some of Mr. Dolan's personal papers are in the Special Collections departments at Georgetown University, Northwestern University and the University of Arkansas.
This lot includes the following:
A May 1917 photo of Mr. Dolan and other Jamaica Plain boys in Army training for World War I at Plattsburgh NY. It is about 8 inches by 10 inches.
A September 1950 photo of Mr. Dolan with U. S. Secretary of Labor
Maurice J. Tobin and Mayor Martin H. Kennelly of Chicago. Mr. Tobin was also a Mayor of Boston and a Governor of Massachusetts. It is about 8 inches by 10 inches.
A certificate from Harvard University dated 1918 showing Mr. Dolan passed a Regimental Supply course.

A 1926 letter signed by Louis Little, Director of Athletics at Georgetown University. It is about 11 inches by 8 ½ inches.
A 1950 letter signed by U. S. Secretary of Labor
Maurice J. Tobin. It is about 10 ½ inches by 8 inches.
An introductory document dated 1946 from the Attorney General of Arizona, John L. Sullivan. It is signed by Mr. Dolan and Mr. Sullivan and has an embossed seal of the office of the Attorney General of the State of Arizona. It is about 8 ½ inches by 10 ¾ inches for the letter and 9 inches by 11 ¾ inches overall
A campaign card for Mr. Dolan's candidacy for the 13th Congressional District seat for Illinois in 1950. It is about 3 ¾ inches by 2 inches.
A campaign card for Mr. Dolan's candidacy for the 7th Representative District seat in the General Assembly in 1956. It is about 5 inches by 3 inches.
