Note that the reamer has 4 spiral flutes that start with one diameter, and then step up to a larger diameter.
(I’m not a machinist, and I’m sorry that I can’t say what type of reamer this is, and I can’t offer an expert assessment of its condition.)
There is a little grime on the tool, but the flutes feel sharp all the way from the tip to the end, and there are no obvious nicks.
I am guessing that the dimensions written on the reamer refer to the initial diameter, the final diameter, and the length of the tool, in inches. Could the 4-10-52 be a date of manufacture?
Seems pretty early.
This tool came from the tool box of a High School machine shop teacher.
I believe the tool was operational when the teacher retired.

I have not cleaned the oil and grime out of the tool – although I suspect it would clean up very well. The flutes seem sharp and have no nicks or visible damage.
